About Jane
I have been basket making for 24 years and have been working professionally and running courses for the last 14 years. I feel ardently about protecting the knowledge of our traditional rural crafts that are so much a part of our heritage. I like to get people enthused to work with willow and rush, these versatile, sustainable materials.
My background is in arts and crafts. Having studied art, design and furniture making, worked in traditional timber framing and dabbled in stone masonry and stained glass, I then became hooked on basket making, mainly learning from the much respected Gloucestershire basket maker Sheila Wynter.
In 2022 I won 3rd prize in the Basketry of the Year Award.

- Feedback from previous willow weaving workshops.
- The setting was beautiful and an ideal space for the workshop. Jane was great and very patient. The lady that welcomed and looked after us was lovely too and regularly came in to see if all was going well and if anyone needed anything.
- Second weaving course and just as good as first. Jane is an excellent tutor and the whole group ended up with a basket to be proud of. Course has inspired me to take up weaving more seriously.
- Beautiful end product, Jane explained the process at each stage, and easy to follow.
- A lovely venue and great workshop. Highly recommended.
